Hmm. Open-air ranges in the metro area are scarce. The Dekalb Police
Range was pretty ok good for a whiles, but it is now closed to the public.
The closest public open-air range I know of is in Charlie Elliott Wildlife
Center, about an hour out I-20 from my place on the East side of Atlanta.
It's a nice range, but on a good-weather weekend day you're best advised to
get there early as it fills up quickly. Bring your own targets and stand,
and you'll need a Georgia Outdoor Recreation Pass ("GORP") to use the
range -- they're sold on site, but the last time I bought one they wanted
my Social Security number. Didn't seem to notice when I lied though.
