No, QuickTime Pro is separate. There may be some other ripping packages out there, but I found it was just easier to use QuickTime Pro. Open the movie, save in QT format, and boom, iMovie can work with the files just fine. Faster than messing with other software.
I thought I heard something about QTPro being included with 10.6 or something, but I'm not sure that's the case. Can't hurt to give it a shot.
