Duhhhhhhh.

Thank you.

uoting Scott Williams <[email protected]>:

The red exclamation mark is not a show stopper, I've fogged a number of labs with that showing. My guess is it's trying to hit a local DNS to resolve my hostname.

You do have the Fog Client installed on the host machines,....right?

I've learned you CAN do imaging without the client , but then many of the abilities like hostname changing is not available.

While on the host machine, go to http://FOGSERVERIP/fog/client/ and install the FOG Client Service if you have not already.

Not here. I started 8 computers in a task for deployment and walked away. Came back several hours later. The computers were finished with the deployment and had rebooted but the hostnames were not changed. I do have that it turned on. I tried looking at the online manual but there was nothing. On each of my hosts on the server's host list there is a red exclamation point - Unable to resolve hostname MMS-GOLD-01. Any ideas?

Thanks.

First make sure it's enabled in the Fog Services on the server. You probably did that.

Next, be patient, What I saw while imaging is that the client will go through a couple reboots immediately after it gets an image.

It appears the dirty bit is turned on and it goes through a complete chkdsk, reboots, It then comes back up and if your lucky, you'll see a small dialogue box come up saying it's going to change the hostname., reboots, then I think it will come up cleanly with the specified hostnames.

This is what I've seen happen.

Does anyone have any experience with the hostname changer in FOG? I have re-imaged a lab but the hostnames are not being changed. Any advice would be appreciated.
