CSD - Community School District (K-12)
CUSD - Community Unit School District (K-12)
CCSD - Community Consolidated School District (typically K-8 feeds in to
another district)
CHSD - Community High School District (High school district with feeder
districts)
THSD - Township High School District (High school district)

There may be others but these are what I can think of (there are also the lab
schools - not sure what designation they use). I also think the designations
may also have something to do with districts that consolidated across county
lines (remember in the 1 room school house days there was only the County Supt
of Schools)

Here is a breakdown of the ISBE District Type Codes from ISBE's website:

01 - Elementary Common - 1 Teacher (i.e. 1 room school house)
02 - Elementary Common - Other
03 - Elementary Consolidated
04 - Elementary Community Consolidated
05 - Elementary Charter
13 - HS Consolidated
15 - HS Charter
16 - HS Community
17 - HS Township
18 - HS Protectorate
19 - HS Nonhigh
22 - Unit Old Type
24 - Unit Community Consolidated
25 - Unit Charter
26 - Community Unit

A unit district is K-12 in the same district. In the Chicago area and
in Metro east and a few other "pockets" around the state are what we
unit district people call "dual districts" where the K-8 schools and the
high schools are governed by separate school boards and separate
superintendents.
