Yeah some pen drives are a bit of a pain to get to be bootable. Can you boot from a CD/DVD and get the image off the Pen Drive?

BTW - You might run into a hidden restoration partition on those buggers. I had a set that I had to go in and kill a hidden non DOS partition before the image would "stick". I would image the box and then the restoration partition would notice the OS had changed and it would put it back the way the unit was shipped. Handy for consumers - a pain in the a$$ for others.

The original was installed from external DVD/CD, but the image is
placed on a thumb drive from which the computer is booted.

Are there such things as bootable and non-bootable thumb drives?
Should we put the image on a CD and boot from an external USB CD/DVD
ROM drive?
