I would also be curouis to see something more elagant, but when faced with
the poor wrapping of the google maps inside of Joomla I opted to show a
static map with a link straight to the full google maps:

I bet you could do a custom map and have a link to it to tackle the sports
part.



Like I said, I too would like to make it even better, but I thought this was
one step better.
