I have some teachers that like to buy printshop or print master and use that. we install that if they leave the program in their rooms (i.e. not install at school and at home).
other than installation the software is not supported. (users don't have admin rights so we have to install for them). same goes for personal printers if they want a desk printer. if the application in questions was a different version of office or something that could cause conflicts I would reconsider (I guess its a case by case bassis).
