While we are on the subject of Windows GPO's, I have a question that has
stumped me lately. I have everything locked down on my network based on the
GPO's assigned to individual users. I also deploy important desktop links to
users through my GPO. The problem is, on my 200 new machines, the links show up
and work great, on my older machines using the same GPO, no links show up, but
the GPO is in place cause all the settings work. Any clue to why all my older
machines are not loading the desktop icons I deploy to them?

Changing the wallpaper is one thing Microsoft just can't seem to get a handle
on. I have disable wallpaper set in Group Policy which removes the option to
set wallpaper in IE but not in MS image viewer. It's very inconsistent I feel.
I've decided I don't care enough about that battle especially since it's a
profile based wallpaper anyway.

Now back in the win98 days when one person changing the wallpaper to something
vulgar affected everybody that sat down, that was a different story! :)

Dan to stop them from changing the desktop, go to User
configuration-Administrative Templates-Active Desktop- and look for prohibit
changes in the right pane. I've got prohibit adding items, deleting items, and
a specific wallpaper set.

Group Policy Experts is there a setting to keep users from chaing the Desktop
and or to change the Home page in IE?
I look in the GPEDIT and so far haven't found anything. Better yet is there
any documentation n Group Policy?

Thanks
