Yes. Our 7th and 8th graders all receive 12 weeks of computer
instruction. In 7th grade, the curriculum contains instruction on
keyboarding, Word, Excel, some Power Point, and more. 8th graders
concentrate more on Excel and Powerpoint and also continue keyboarding.
All of our students have computer classes from Kindergarten through 8th
grade.
Our middle school computer curriculum has allowed many students to pass
proficiency tests to bypass keyboarding and/or computer concepts classes
at our high school. In fact we have greatly reduced the number of
sections of keyboarding due to the number of students who pass the
keyboarding proficiency tests because of our middle school computer
curriculum.

thought i would try again
The decision was made to eliminate formal computer instruction for
our 7th and 8th grade students. We have been questioned about this
decision and now I need to survey some schools and see what everyone
else is doing! yay!
So:
Do your 7th and 8th grade students receive formal computer instruction?
If no, did you ever and if you did why did you eliminate it?
If yes, what curriculum do you have?
Thanks!!! You all are always such a fantastic resource!
*Blessings to you,*
