What about purchasing the boxes outright once instead of "renting" them? The
basic gist is that they are going all digital.

The only drawback is that everyone has to watch the same channel when using

but is working out OK.

Wow thanks Richard. I was going to look into this myself but needed to know
this information you just provided. We have channel one in the Jr. High
already plus the free Comcast connection. I was wondering if the channel One
equipment could be used to distribute he signal to the classrooms.

Once again thanks....

Bob

There is always Direct TV Goes To School. They donate up to 4 receivers per
school if I remember correctly. You have to pay for installation of the dish
and any necessary cable. If you have cable to every room already, that
shouldn't be a major expense. I think it cost me $1100 to get the dish mounted
and cable run to 4 locations. We use ChannelOne to distribute DirectTV to the
Jr. High and High School. Then we have separate receivers for the History
teacher, Library, and the Superintendent for weather etc... You get the basic
Direct TV package for nothing. The process is fairly simple and straight
forward. The hardest part is finding someone to do the install and then
getting Direct TV to answer the phone to activate the receivers.

Good Morning,

Comcast has informed me that we will need to pay 1.99 per month for cable boxes
in order to ensure that our cable works in our classrooms. This could prove to
be thousands of dollars for our District.

Are there other cable options or providers any of you are using?

Thank you for your help.
