How does one become exempt now? Five years ago I was called on the carpet for not having continuing ed. I explained that "I filed for exemption status back in 2000. The local ROE explained that "no one who gets Il State Retirement is exempt. If you want to keep a certificate, also necessary I am for retirement, you must keep a continuing ed plan. If fact I was 'made an example of ' their words and required to get 8 college hours within one year or have my certificate (retirement) pulled. I was told that "no one is exempt (period)". That classification disappeared six years ago or so.
