TRS is generally a much more attractive retirement plan than IMRF (assuming it
doesn’t go into default at least).

for the Autodidact

I do not have a teaching cert of any kind and I am looking to get IMRF.
I paid into TRS for a while when I was doing substitute teaching assignments,
but since taking my current job at the district, and teaching/instructing any
students, I am paying into IMRF...

Do you instruct students in your current position? Does your contract require a
valid IL teaching certificate?

A type 34, at least I think it’s a type 34, is a provisional vocational cert. I
