Anything should be able to run that. I have two setups. Bothe have effectively run 400+ systems. ipcop on one and pfsense on the other. I wouldn't trade either for a proprietary system o do the same thing.
That being said, I have been in cases where cisco/sonicwall etc systems have been installed to run systems. Something like a cisco ASA 5505 would be good enough. I have worked with schools all over the country and there are many different setups which don't follow size/numbers etc. I have seen schools running 18,000 computer systems with dual pfsense carp failover firewalls. But I have worked with a school who had 18,000 computer systems and a good sized sonicwall appliance. So really whatever you choose to go with, make sure YOU can support it. Make sure it will run and make sure the hardware will hold up. Make sure you can scale it to say 20-100mbps if needed. -Heath Henderson On Oct 13, 2010, at 9:20 PM, "Charlie Niehaus" <cnieh...@altamont.k12.il.us> wrote: > OK - My network has grown in complexity and traffic in that I need to look > at a SERIOUS router.
