I have software RAID 1 and my main drive failed. I then had to select the secondary drive at boot up. I changed it now to boot automatically from the secondary drive for now. I still haven't fixed it since I think I'm getting a new pc soon. The reason I went with software RAID is because I already had the OS installed and just thought that would be faster and easier. The software RAID did seem to slow the system down though.

Bell Sent: Thursday, October 14, 2010 8:12 AM To: Tech-Geeks Subject: [tech-geeks] RAID 1 Question In the past, I know that a two-disk RAID 1 would mirror, but the ³master² drive would be the only bootable device. Then, when the ³master² drive failed, you would swap drive positions, and the ³mirrored² drive would then be bootable. Is this still the case, or is RAID 1 now smart enough to automatically switch the boot device to the "mirrored" drive? ---------------------------------------------- Bill Bell Asst.
