We also updated from Follett's OPAC to Destiny. Follett is a great company to work with. Their support, which I haven't had to use much, is responsive, friendly and knowledgeable. Our librarians love it!

It’s not cheap (or “Free, as in Beer”), but it’s seamless, has its own support system, and relatively painless to integrate with. I should mention that before we were using Follett Destiny, we were using a previous Follett product called OPAC. That product was significantly more horrific, particularly since each school (collection) required its own server, it’s own database and its own maintenance. It was, of course, cheaper than Destiny. But then again, OPAC isn’t even sold anymore as its services have been effectively integrated into Destiny. Destiny’s big sell, getting us out of OPAC, was the migration of all separate databases into one database, one server, which then also facilitates interlibrary loans, seamless transfer of students from one library (collection) to another. Follett also supports SIF integration, which we have implemented, and after a couple years of fine-tuning our own local knowledge of SIF and the product we use to manage it, has made the yearly pain of updating the student database all the more simple. Our libraries are very pleased with it. http://www.follettsoftware.com/sub/destiny_solutions/ Runs on Windows server, requires a SQL database. The front-end does load it's on web server app, so technically it doesn't require Windows server or IIS. I'd also take a look at KOHA. http://koha.org/ Upp, William wrote: Our school's library is going to change over to a computer system for cataloging, check out, etc. I would like some recommendations from those of you whose districts use this type of system. The system can be a cost or free software system, I really do not care. Also would like to know what hardware requirements you use for the system as well. Thanks.
