google talk is jabber based, and they have released a
client only for windows. however all other platforms
have jabber compliant clients..

u can use ichat on mac
gaim on win, mac,linux
trillian with jabber plugin on win, mac, linux

did u mean that u cannot use voice capabilities when
one uses a third party client? im not sure about this
and can use some information
