First is the availability. This is down to a few things -
manufacturing, if there is any difficulties (natural disasters or
current affairs) which hit the factories - then there will be an
impact on the prices. Demand - If there is low demand, production may
drop off - and the part become hard top find which will raise the
price, if there is very high demand, the supply may not be abel to
meet it, and that will raise the price also.

Then there is the complexity, package type and size will raise the
cost, as will the blank size, the level of integration, also the
extent of the QA process.

Sometimes you will find yourself paying more for an IC because of the
brand, or the IP used to design it. There may be furthar factors to
consider- but these I beleive cover most of them.
