Your idea of keeping a few 1.5 v batteries is a hack, you are treating the symptom and not the cause. try to answer the question why are you facing the "dead battery"" problem so " frequently" ??

Car Batteries charge themselves from the dynamo while the car is running. maybe ur dynamo isint working too well. maybe it has a few shorted out coils.

Maybe your dynamo is fine, but your battery isint holding charge anymore, check the acidity of the battery electrolyte and top up if needed, check for salt deposits on the electrode plates.

Maybe you have an electrical device in your car that drains your battery while it is not in use

Maybe you just dont use your car often enough (though this really wouldnt be a problem with most modern petrol cars)

If you still want to go with the batteries just for the heck of it, lead acid batteries, the kind used in automobiles have one advantage to them: extremely high amperage. all the other portable batteries have miniscule ratings compared to the lead acid ones. I dont have the exact numbers with me, but you would need a lot many pen-cells to acheive the required amperage and it might actually be more economically viable to just get another lead acid battery :P

hope that helps

I have a car related question. I frequently face the "dead battery" problem while starting the car. Repeatedly, I have to call up a friend to request for a jump start. Is it possible to have a easy solution? If I keep few 1.5 V batteries in series to make a full 12V, will it be useful? I know the amperage is a problem. How to solve it?

Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.
