How much of a "SAN" do you need vs. a shelf of disks?  EMC has new VNX 
stuff coming out that's around the $10k pricepoint, I think.  IBM DS3xxx 
series stuff is also relatively inexpensive, but it's more like SAS 
attached disk instead of a real network.  The switches start making things 
more expensive...
