Doug- *great* email (for everyone to peruse) and lots of good detail. I wanted to have my boss look at DDN-the pricing was right, but he wanted more features.
Before we got our isilon setup; we evaluated the Ibrix stuff from HP. This was about a year ago. Sadly, the engineers who set it up made some major errors, they were clearly clueless about many important details about the product, and support was terrible. Making changes to a few system settings was icky. This is a one-off single customer experience here, but my gut feeling was in general, "HP wasn't ready for prime time" in this. It was pretty much "we just purchased this company, of course their product is easy to install". Um, no. Note: it HAS beena year+ : I hope that's improved, but we moved to another vendor. Unlike our Ibrix eval, the Isilon was painless.
