So, I now have a desire to be able to monitor a couple of email accounts on my
personal laptop (running Ubuntu).

So, I did recently find "PopTray Minus" which mostly does what PopTray did for
me on Windows at home.

But, I make use of the preview feature, kind of live by it...since none of the
emails to go into this monitoring account ever need to be replied to, just
acted on and the deleted.

Problem is the new incident system is intentionally vague and requires me to
find and click on a link to get details. And, its only sent in messy HTML.
They told the helpdesk people to keep the visible subject/description fields
short and make sure no identity information is revealed (in the past SSNs to
end up in the work notes, and there have been incidents where they go out in
the emails....) And, they've gone to extremes.... "unix terminal showing
errors" or "user emailed with an issue" or "email" or "calendar" or "comment
left"

So, looking for something like PopTray/PopTray Minus for ubuntu but with HTML
preview, don't want the bloat of firing up evolution just so I can click a
link....

It is an imap account, so imap support would be nice. Might make it easier
when I clean out the account from work now and then....

I guess I didn't notice the transition to HTML because I used to have the
notifications forwarded to my iphone...but I would also ignore them until I
could get to a computer, reading ticket on phone browser is poor....(but I got
rid of my iphone).

Also its poptray running on windows computer in bedroom....do the real email,
ssh, etc. stuff from main computer when I need to.
