FWIW - Sun servers in this case, and at least 2 of such have been 
positively identified as kernel bugs, though we are still tracking one.


(also regarding the early commented about correct checksums. We've had 
no less than 6 disks replaced in the last 3 years for lying about the 
data that they are sending back up to the OS, all the while certifying 
it as valid)
