We ran into the same bug with our 7410 cluster. In version<mumble>

The newer code version has different bugs. The most fun one is
that when a failed disk finishes rebuilding onto a spare, and you
replace the failed drive, the system will fail the new drive.
They've given us a bunch of hotfixes for that one, but we are still
seeing issues.

Hi John,

Yeah, version <mumble>, that's my version! Well the vendor is recommending an upgrade to the latest code (not a surprise, and it was on my todo list anyway). Sounds like I might have more fun times to look forward to, post-upgrade. I heard there is a new version coming out RSN, the first of the 2011-Q? vintage. Wonder if that incorporates your hotfixes. Thanks for the commiseration, and good luck!

I went through the "oh, that will be fixed in the newest upgrade bundle" for almost 2 years.. It's finally quasi-stable, but I still will never fully trust it, nor will I buy or recommend the product. I'd be more inclined to go Nexenta.
