Sounds like you need to use a different mirror. It should not be
taking so long to install.
I've experienced the issue too, regardless of what mirror I pick, but to me it
is well worth it. Two things I will add:
-There's an issue with the latest Cygwin on XP, they've changed the
authentication model, and you can no longer write on your network drives, you
can only write to the local c, d, etc...
- Get apt-cyg (http://code.google.com/p/apt-cyg/) it's like Debian's apt-get
but for Cygwin. It will change your life!
