Roy,

What we ended up doing is just getting OS support from Oracle/Sun (price is not too bad) and then getting a second server for spare parts from the 3rd party market. That turned out to be a lot cheaper than using a 3rd party. Also, in our situation it was easier to use capital $$$ for a new system than expense $$$ for a support contract.

cheers,

ski

Hello all,

Is anyone using a 3rd party organization for hardware support for Sun
servers? In general we're moving away from Oracle/Sun but I do still
have a few systems that need support. Budget is tight though, and I
expect to be challenged on support contract costs.

Any recommended organizations (or ones to particularly avoid)? Other
gotchas (like I know getting patches from Oracle will be a problem)?

Thanks and best wishes,
