Tracy,
The main issue is the macros. Also even though there may be the same
macro on groff that eroff uses it reacts differently or requires
different parameters. Also eroff came bundled with soft fonts that I
don't think are available. The font issue is fine we can just deal with
that and substitute fonts that give us a good product. We are searching
the groff mail list and will post something there as we go on with this
project.

It would be useful if you could tell us specifically what sort of
problems you
are having. What is it that you want groff to do that it isn't doing?
What is
the macro you are having trouble with? I don't know a thing about groff
but
someone here might.

I would also recommend running your problem (be sure to provide the
broken
macro and explain what you want it to do) by the good folks on the GNU
groff
mailing list, details of which can be found here:
