Hi-
I don't know how I get suckered into these things, but I've offered to help
find a place that can host a couple of school-wide mailing lists for my son's
K-8 school. I think each list would have somewhere between 500-1000 members.
All people on this list have already given their consent via a (sigh) paper
form distributed to all students.
I've looked at:
Yahoo! Groups (fail because you either have to invite everyone or you get
only 10 bulk adds a day)
Google Groups (fail because you can't do bulk adds, plus you need a Google
acct to do a bunch of things. Yahoo! may be similar in this regard)
I could spin up a VPS somewhere and slap mailman or sympa on it, but I'd prefer
not to set something up that might require my babysitting in the future (I get
enough of that at work. And as they say, postal carriers don't take lots of
long walks for fun when they get home from work). Perhaps there are shared
hosting companies that provide mailman access as part of their standard
package, but I know places like Hostgator get a little touchy because mailman
can't throttle by default (yet?).
So, does anyone know of a commercial mailing list hosting service they trust?
Cheap and unsophisticated user friendly would be swell.
Thanks!

P.S. if the two large lists work out well, it may be the case that they would
want to create a whole bunch of per-classroom lists also. [the sysadmin in me
thinks, hey, wouldn't it be cool to have the larger lists just be includes of
the smaller ones, but I doubt they will get that sophisticated]
