Just like Yahoo creates a "profile" for anyone that joins a Yahoo list
(most people don't know it) Google sets up a google profile too.  It
doesn't have gmail service attached to it, unless you add that
afterwords.

If you'd like I can create a test list on whatexit.org for you to play with.

Some states have a state-wide contract that lets schools set it up
with minimal hassle.  The school may already be set up just for its
staff.  Ask around.  You could also set up $SCHOOL-mailings.com :-)
