A very good question - let me go check the logs...
For the last three months (which included a small number of idle holidays with 
minimal changes):
        Min 263 mins  (4.38 hrs)
        Avg 342 mins  (5.7 hrs)
        Max 587 mins  (9.78 hrs)

So yes it does vary based on the daily usage, but it's pretty big no matter how 
you look at it.  So at least 4 hours are spent simply crawling the tree, even 
if there were no changes to sync.

Gotcha - You're using rsync for two-way sync.  While rsync is normally only 
meant for master --> slave sync.
