Twist ties usually have three major problems.  First of all, they are 
really small and difficult to work with.  Second, the rubber or paper 
wrapping over the metal wire tends to shred over time, leaving you with 
a small metal wire.  Three, they tend to crimp and cut cables because 
they have to get wound pretty tightly or they unravel and fall off.  I 
think velcro wraps are much better in the long run.
