Stuart, I don't think that in this case it's verbose. It's only changing the idea of advisable with a strong suggestion. The "strong", makes all difference, specifically in the case mentioned on misc@, where the poster did not carefully read the man page. As I mentioned, our brain try to fill in the gaps and in this case, the word strong might shout: "Hey, this is important, pay attention". But since I'm not a native English speaker, perhaps someone could suggest a change in the text both of the man page and the faq.
