That's off topic.

If it's a matter of style, OpenBSD policy is that Jason has the
last word, and the statistical analysis done by another poster shows
that's a very efficient policy to arrive at a uniform style -
neglecting the third-party Perl manuals that we don't tamper with
for ease of maintenance.

Nobody claimed "a hex" is absolutely wrong, so it's settled.
And even if it were, tech@ would be a questionable forum for
an at-length discussion of the grammar of *human* languages.
