I have to agree with Eric. I don't believe Hotmail supports anything
other than HTTP for access to e-mail...

AFAIK, Hotmail is HTTP only. However, you can use a client like Outlook
Express to access HTTP mail without the browser. In fact, I'm doing it
now.
