Hello all

Another thing I have invested in for Gordon's sake which might interest the
group.

Gordon is utterly sick and tired of the horrible voices which come with
Window-Eyes and NVDA screen-readers. his favourite voices by far are those of
Infovox iVox, which he uses on the Mac.

So, last week I took the plunge and invested in an InfoVox "Inkey" package.

The "Inkey" package is a USB thumb drive which comes with a copy of all of the
English language InfoVox voices plus 3 licenses to use them on machines under
Windows. It works like this. You install iVox on your machine and a fingerprint
of your hard drive is taken. The fingerprint is used to activate iVox on their
servers. The programme then runs locally without the thumb drive. Interestingly
enough, the drive also contains NvDA, although I doubt it's the current version.

It's a bit on the expensive side, I must admit. It retails over here for
£270.00 plus shipping. But it's the only way Gordon is going to be comfortable
using Windows having become so familiar with it on the Mac. If anybody is
interested in how we find this thing, let me know and I'll send a report to the
group.

Lynne
