hello Jane I totally understand where you're coming from. The prices are ridiculous, and although it's a top class piece of software, I really don't see how they justify those prices.
We only got it because back in 2007 when Gordon bought the original version the prices were a lot lower. Then there was a mix-up at Dolphin over his SMA which they lost. Eventually, after an 18 month refusal to update him, one of Dolphin's support people started to dig around in the records and, eventually, she unearthed Gordon's details and it became clear that they had not honoured his purchase agreement and that what he had been telling them was in fact correct. Dolphin wrote us a very nice letter, apologising for the error and saying that they were going to send him a totally new copy because he's clearly paid for something and not received it. Sure enough, in the next couple of days it arrived with a personal apology letter from Dolphin's software manager. So that's how we came about the current version. The earlier version would not run without HAL, (Dolphin's screen-reader) and their software synthesiser whose name I have forgotten. But now it runs with anything and even without a screen-reader. I am very sorry that they make the thing so unattainable to a lot of people. The product is really intended for professional users. Lynne On 10 Oct 2011, at 02:32, Jane wrote: Hello, Lyne. Looks like I won't be getting it any time soon. Right now we are trying to keep paying bills, so I guess that will have to wait.
