Hello; and a very good Saturday everybody

We, that is to say Gordon and I, are the owners of an Asus EEePC NetBook which
does not have Bluetooth as a standard feature; much to our disappointment. I
confess that, had I known at the time of purchase that Bluetooth was absent
from the machine, I wouldn't have bought this particular model. In fact, to be
honest, in some ways I'm regretting buying an Asus machine at all; as there are
apparently better alternatives out there for the price I paid for the machine.
In fact, I could, and should, have gone for something like an HP machine which
has an I7 processor which I've seen in the same shop for just a little bit more
money since I bought this machine. Overall it was a mistake because
performance-wise and hardware specification-wise, it's really quite poor.

Be that as it may, the deed is done; and so it's a case of living with it now.

So, what I'd like to know is can anybody recommend a particular type of
Microsoft compatible Bluetooth dongle that would work without the need to
install obscure drivers and software such as that "Bluesoleil" or whatever it's
called? We used to have a dongle like that for use with our old desktops and
they were, not to put too fine a point on it, junk!

Another option we're considering is selling this NetBook to my sister-in-law,
and going for a totally brand new machine. In which case, does anybody have any
recommendations/suggestions? it doesn't have to be a NetBook, we'd consider a
reasonably priced NoteBook if we can find one with a decent specification. I'm
not much interested in Acer, and given what I've seen of them performance-wise,
I doubt very much I'd consider another Asus. One thing I really don't like
about this machine is the fact that it won't let you go above 2GB of memory.
yet, it's sold with Windows 7 pre-installed. Seems to me that 2GB is really not
sufficient to run Windows 7 Ultimate, and we did perform that upgrade. The
machine was supplied with a mere 1GB of RAM installed and Windows 7 Starter
edition pre-installed. Pretty pathetic actually, given the recommendations of
the software and hardware manufacturers themselves.

Thanks.

Lynne
