yep, I agree with people when they speak of high repair costs when it
comes to adaptive technology.
I've just had my Mountbatten Brailler serviced and I'm outlaying $452.00
for the procedure so what was done? A battery replacement, a software
upgrade plus the labour, I suppose I'm lucky as I've heard of repair
bills running into the thousands of dollars.
All I can say is that - thanks to the Internet - there will never be an
occasion when I pay for a battery replacement again since I've
discovered how to do the job myself.
The battery is a standard sealed lead acid type which can be purchased
at most good electronics shops so that wont be a problem.
To get to the battery you "unlatch" the end of the Brailler, remove a
bracket which holds the battery in place and discoonect the battery from
the terminals, simple enough.
My only comment when I saw the bill was, "Well thank God I can pay for
the thing".
