Oh ok how odd if it's law and RNIB isn't reinforcing that law. Of course
this could have changed as of today.

Hello Chris
The law states that if a piece of equipment is "modified" or designed
specifically for use by the disabled it qualifies for VAT exemption. That's what I was
told a while ago anyway. As for the firmware, the price is exactly the same. We're having
problems registering with RNIB because their email is not arriving. It isn't in our junk
box and it has not been sent to our servers according to our server logs. We've tried
several times but we cannot get it to work. So it looks like we have no option but to go
to another supplier.
Installing the firmware is easy, it's just a matter of running an executable
file and pointing it to the binary. The rest is automatic.

Yes please well I am getting mine from RNIB because I don't know anyone
technical enough to do the firmware update for me. Ok they can set it up and
all that but getting the firmware might be a problem. So chose to pay the full
price. Some may disagree with me here but we are not excempt of VAT here
because it is a mainstream product with text to speech built in.
