Oh yes, you're absolutely right there.  Some people think you can just plug 
anything into anything and have it work.  That is far from being true.  You'd 
be surprised just how many people even in the broadcast industry itself don't 
have a clue when it comes to the correct pairing of microphones and equipment 
such as mixer decks.
