That is quite okay. I tend to ramble on too long, anyway.

I don't honestly think that the low-speed data
transmission capability feature in the video was ever used,
here, to it full capabilities. Your version of this particular
toy was a lot better than ours.

Radio Netherlands used to have a weekly short wave
program called "Media Network" which dealt with broadcast and
media technology around the world and they sometimes mentioned
teletext systems in Europe. I remember thinking along the lines
of "How Neat!" as one could send any sort of digital data on
this channel if it was configured correctly.

We could easily have had closed captions plus teletext
pages running out our ears by using something more like TCP/IP.

One thing I remember was that somebody was trying to
establish a system for cuing video cassette recorders to start
recording based on program content rather than just the time.
Let's say there's this bleeping golf tournament that never ends
and I want to record a program on the meaning of the universe
or some new form of energy that was just discovered which will
change all of our lives for the better, but the golf tournament
drones on past 19:00 when the interesting program was to start.

This system I heard about was supposed to use the
teletext data to look for a trigger saying that XYZ program had
now started so go ahead and record. As it is, we come back later
and there is 45 minutes of this stupid little white ball being
smacked around, 5 minutes of commercials and 5 minutes of the
interesting show that cuts off in mid sen------
