I meant to reply to this, but somehow I managed to delete it. My apologies
Martin.

However, I did read it and get your point. I have been trying persistently for
two days solid to install that darn software, but now I've given up. Somebody
on list suggested that when the installer stalled, Jaws is probably installed.
Not a bit of it! Only the temporary copy which loads after Jaws's installer
has finished messing around with your system creating System Restore points
etc. They cannot be too confident in their own installation procedure if they
have to include the creation of system restore points as part of the procedure.

In any event, Jaws is a disaster and I'm not at all pleased. I guess I could
try installing in a virtual machine. yes, I'll try that in a few moments and
see how we go there.

But to the point. Yes, Martin, how on earth Freedom Science Fiction expect a
blind person to perform that installation procedure without the help of
somebody with eyes or without having an accessibility tool already installed to
guide them is totally beyond me. I would also add that it shouldn't be
necessary for them to install and use their own copy of Eloquance, as they do.
Why can't they simply use the SAPI 4 or SAPI 5 voices which are already
installed on every single system running Windows XP and later?

In short, what a damned waste of time and if I'd actually bought that
application I would have been very annoyed. The installer is a total joke. I
don't doubt that once installed, (if you're fortunate enough to get that far),
it's probably superior to other solutions in a number of ways. However, for me
at least, the installer was a joke and the installation procedure was anything
but a joke. It just wasn't funny at all. It might be worth pointing out that
this is a 64-bit version of Jaws we're talking about here. Possibly the 32-bit
version behaves differently, I wouldn't know. But it's a mute point for me
because the 32-bit version won't run on my machines. Well, actually, perhaps
it would. Thinking about it, it might be worth a shot. But I hope the
installer is better. The problem here, of course, is that you lose some of the
functionality.
