Hello Paul
unfortunately I do not use Gps on my Nokia N86. Due to my multiple
disabilities which I will not go into here I have no interest in going
out on my own but instead go with others. So this is why I haven't
explored Gps on both my Nokia N86 or my iPhone 4.
As for Ocr packages I think Knfb is still the leading package but like
you say it is rather expensive. Cheaper alternatives I have heard of are
Text Scout and another one whose name escapes me but it costs around £80.
Hope this helps.

Hello Christopher,
Many thanks for your prompt reply. I used to use Talks on a Nokia 6600 but some
time ago moved to VoiceOver on an iPhone.
Does the Nokia screen reader work OK with the GPS on your phone both to tell
you where you are (street name and nearest cross street and maybe house number)
and to give you turn by turn directions on how to get to a desired destination?
Can you use your contacts book to select the desired destination? Note that I
used to use Lodestone on my Nokia 6600 with a bluetooth GPS. this was great for
finding my way around my home but as no maps were involved it was no use
anywhere else. I imagine the GPS situation is now much better.
What is happening about Optical Character Recognition (OCR) in the Nokia world?
The KNFB reader used to be the leader in this area but it costs over £500 from
the RNIB compared with similar Apps for the iPhone which cost about £4. Is
there a cheaper alternative to the KNFB reader in the Nokia world?
Many thanks for your help.
