Hi Desi IMAP is basically a method of mail which carries a lot of advantages over POP3. POP3 is just a very simple protocol which allows the mail client to log in, download mail and log out. IMAP is used primarily for multiple devices. you can, for instance, have certain messages moved to different mailboxes for different devices. You can dynamically control which messages get deleted when, and synchronise multiple devices in this way. IMAP is a far more interactive protocol. We, for instance, only download the headers of messages, rather than an entire message until we want to read it. By doing this on a mobile device, you can save a lot of throughput. Once you decide to read a message, you hit enter on it and it is downloaded from the server so that you can open it and read it. But imagine if you had hundreds of messages on the server, and you only had to download the headers instead of the entire messages. This would save you bandwidth and time. Best of all, the next ti me you log in, your client remembers the messages you've read and doesn't re-download them. With POP3 you get it all whether you want it or not.
