I haven't tried a banana pi just yet, but I have been using a raspberry pi quite successfully for more than a year now. I have it running raspbian (the raspberry version of debian linux). But, from what I understand, the pi can use the sd cards created for the banana pi as well, though I've not got around to making an android version just yet. I also have plans to test the FreeBSD version of the pi os, though currently, raspbian and windows IOT are the only ones I've tested, and had good results with both, though I didn't keep the windows IOT very long, as I needed the card for other things. Either way, the difference between the raspberry and the banana pi is that the banana has a better processor, though they both have 1gb of ram (if you have the pi2 or 3). I'm using the pi 2, haven't gotten ahold of a pi 3 just yet, but do plan to do so in the near future, though I don't expect my user experience to change much, since it's nearly identical except for minor things besides the faster processor, which I don't know enough about to tell if it's equivalent to the banana or not. Guess I'll find out when I get one. :)

I=E2=80=99ve ordered a starter kit, the Banana Pi itself = comes with 1GB of RAM.The kit includes the Pi along with = a pre-programmed 8GB SD card which of
course can be changed depending on = the user requirements.
The Pi comes with Android = v4.2 for some reason, perhaps this is the latest version to be tested on = the Pi? I=E2=80=99ll have to do a little research on that but again its = not a particular concern I wouldn=E2=80=99t have thought.
Other parts of the kit include the power supply and an = Ethernet cable.
I bought the kit from eBay and = I=E2=80=99ve written to the seller asking him to if he wouldn=E2=80=99t = mind installing Google Talkback before shipping so I may be in luck = there and if not? Well I=E2=80=99ll have to rely on another
