I use the Chromecast though the Chromecast is somewhat different from Play-Fi, Play-Fi - at its heart - is a multi device/multi room platform based around audio quality and not video.

At the heart of Play-Fi - apart from the compatible devices themselves - is the Play-Fi App which is very easy to use on Android devices - say your Neo Box - but not so easy - last time I checked - on IOS for some strange reason.

So how does the systme work? Well the Play-Fi App does most of the work, that's the point at which the user decides what's to be streamed and where.

The AnPlay-Fi App Device then transmits the content to the Play-Fi device or devices depending on how the user has requested the distribution of the stream.

I only have one Play-Fi device at this time - The Rotal T14 Streamer - though I do very much look forward to using Play-Fi with this device for a whole heap of reasons.

The quality of audio is excellent and I can listen to pretty much any file type or stream I wish to.

The Interface of the App is very well laid out - perhaps the itnerface was different in earlier versions and the review seems to allude to this, the review is rather old so perhaps updates have been applied since then -.

I can use a VPN service - say to listen to 5 Live Sprots Extra - without a problem, just set the VPN on the device where the Play-Fi App resides, choose what I want to hear, choose on which Play-Fi device I wish to hear it and sit back to listen.

There are portable Play-Fi devices available and I my self am considering the Polk Omni S6 to take out into the backyard etc.

In my own circumstances, I have never really followed up wireless streaming,
although of course, the Google Home and Amazon Alexa-based devices do just
that. But my main issue is that, to date, I cannot steam video. That was why I
jumped in and bought a Neo box. Sadly, however, I’ve had it for over a year and
still have not ever used it! That’s because I still can’t find anybody who can
help me install Google Talkback.

But an audio/video streaming solution such as the Chromecast Ultra seems like
the way to go for me. So, I bought one!

Hi!

This article/review on Play-Fi is a bit dated but still worth the read if
you're into Wi-Fi, wireless music and streaming as I am.

Personally I think Apple's Airplay is on the point of Retirement given there
are so many better options such as Play-Fi available on devices now.

I'm very glad to see Sonos getting some good competition at long last.

I'm not saying Sonos systems are bad rather they're close and not flexible,
Play-Fi and other systems challenge and change that.

Anyway read on and make your own judgement.
