The Desktop machine I had before the current machine I'm using now only had 22GB of RAM and it handled everything I threw at it, audio/video editing and so forth.

That machine - an Intel Dual Core machine - was less powerful than the one I'm using now - an Intel I5 Quad Core with 8GB of memory -.

Since the days of Windows Xp - which my previous Desktop used - incredible gains have been made in optimisation of how memory is used, how programmes run etc.

Don't forget the elBraille doesn't have a hard drive so that's another factor to consider and programs should run faster.

Hi Dane

It was me that wondered about the memory. I've used computers with only 2GB of
ram in the past and they have really struggled. Even my work computer which had
4GB of ram kept freezing so, I'm really curious about how the LBraille will go.

Yes if I get a note taking device then the ElBrraille will be certainly on my
shopping list.

Now to answer someone elses concern regarding the memory of the elBraille.

2GB is quite a bit of memory, I'm sitting at my Desktop writing this eMail and
I've just checked how much memory I'm using.

The Desktop has 8GB of memory and I'm using 20% of that, I have eMail plus a
few other tasks running here.

If anyone wnats an idea of what the elBraill can cope with then listen to the
latest FSCast which was recorded using Audio Studio recorder on an elBraille.

Yes, there will undoubtedly be a market niche for it. I still think that the
ElBraille offers more functionality and, interestingly, at a cheaper price.
Even though you still then have to buy a Braille display, and you need a
screen-reader. JAWS is not a mandatory add-on, however, NVDA will work just
fine on the ElBraille. But if you buy the hardware, in the UK, the price of all
of it is still less than the Sense Polaris. And you get more for your bucks!

Interesting observations.

I do know people who would indeed the traditional Braille Note Taker for want
of a better description so perhaps the new Braillesense of which you speak is
aimed at those people?

Hello everybody

For me personally, this device is a little disappointing. Although much of
the emphasis is on main stream accessibility, like it’s rival device the
BrailleNote Touch, it lacks the inclusion of a mobile data access modem, be it
GPS or whatever the user’s country requirements are.

Indeed, I confess to being somewhat disappointed by some of the specs. It’s
also not a tablet, it’s like a traditional note taker. So you need to use some
sort of keyboard, there is no touch screen.

I don’t think Hims have this one quite right. Not, at least, from my own
perspective. The next device I acquire will, therefore, not be this one. I am
still in the ElBraille corner.

Make an informed choice of preference, read all about it here:
