Hi!
I received my new iMac today and the Migration Assistant completed transferring
data from a backup of the older Mac Mini machine to my new iMac about 2 hours
ago, I wish such installations and setups were as seamless as this one was even
though it took quite a bit of time to migrate the data.
The machine I’m using has the latest Intel Quad Core I7 Cpu running at 3.6GHZ
with turbo boost up to 4.10GHZ with 32GB of RAM on board.
The new iMac looks a bit like an iPad on Steroids.
I’m using the iMac on the kitchen table before I decommission the older mac
Mini machine in the Den, just to be sure that everything is working correctly
on the new machine before closing the old machine down.
I ordered the complete accessories kit with the iMac which includes the new
Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad and magic keyboard.
I’ve always liked Apple keyboards, Mice and Trackpads and have been using them
for 6 years.
The main change in the redesigned accessories is the internal rechargeable
battery which is charged by the use of the supplied Lightning to USB cable,
will be interesting to see how long the battery’s last in these items so i’ll
be keeping an eye on the battery status of each through the appropriate System
Preferences.
Have I noticed a difference in performance between new and old machines? Well
yes I have noted something, the Acapella voices I use seem to be that little
more responsive on the newer machine.
The older Mac Mini is fitted with nice specs too, an Intel I7 Quad Core process
running at 2.6GHZ with 16GB of RAM,
Interestingly the late 2012 Mac Mini - my older machine - fetches more now
second-hand than it was worth new, a Classic Mac machine it would seem given
the degeneration of the Mac Mini series since.

Those of a positive and enquiring frame of mind will leave the rest of the
halfwits in this world behind.
