Hi!
I’m researching this topic myself and I welcome comments from other list
members who may very well have bought one of these devices recently.
I hardly use a fax machine but there’s no doubting the usefulness of such a
facility particularly when it comes to getting data securely from point A to
point B etc.
I’m mainly looking at a multi function machine not just for printing and
scanning but also for the copier which I believe to be one of those incredibly
handy features a multi function printer can offer.
So why am I looking at a new printer? Well I may possibly bet able to get
something better than what I have now though if I can’t then what I have now -
an Officejet Pro 8500A+ - will do.
The machine is 6 years old however and I’ve noted that prices of replacement
ink cartridges is steadily rising to the point it seems that its nearly worth
buying a new printer.
There are several things I don’t like about my HP unit, once of which is the
complete interactive touch screen the unit has, no buttons at all and very
little - as far as I can tell - Smart Phone App support.
For example I believe now that some of the newer units on the market allow you
to fax, copy and scan from your iPhone or Android device and this is precisely
what I’m after.
The HP unit supports AirPrint but even if it didn’t I’m sure I could find a way
of printing form mobile devices to the printer given that the HP has complete
network and Wi-Fi support which I’m sure all the latest units do
I bought the HP Officejet back in 2011 thanks to a recommendation from another
user and I’ve not been disappointed even though the printer lacks the features
I’d truly desire in a printer.
