Yes that's correct, "What's all the fuss about?"

To my way of thinking, the FM radio stuff in iPhones, or any phones,
for that matter, is a gimmick, pure and simple. It’s a gimmick that’s
unnecessary and, to be honest, I really don’t see what the fuss is about.
Speaking personally, I’m getting out of iOS for the moment. I have an
iPhone 5s still, and that’s going going the journey this week when I
give up my primary mobile account. I’ll modify my mail signatures to
cover this, because my number will change.
Anyway, as I said, I’m getting out off iOS for the moment. I feel that
the operating system is now over-cluttered and has a lot of issues.
For instance, why on earth can’t you attach a file to an E-Mail, from
within Mail itself I mean, as you can with Android, MacOS and Windows?
There are a few other issues which made me opt to get shot of my old
iPhone. My great nephew wants it, and he’s welcome to it!
But anyway, as I say, my mobiles will be Android all the way for a while.
Actually I’ve got my eye on a Google Pixel2 which just blows the
iPhone 8 right out of the water.

Actually I’m surprised at just how many phones there are out there on
the market without FM radio facilities.
So the older phones have capabilities for FM radios? Up until now
taken any talk of that with a grain of salt given just how much other
rubbish we hear about iPhone these days.
As for a phone not having a FM radio being a critical point? I’m not
sure I go along with that.
FM radio sets are so good and cheap these days so why not just go out
and buy one, at a fraction of the cost of a new iPhone and surely -
anyone preparing an emergency kit whilst travelling - would have some
sort of radio on hand though I’m not sure I’d pick just a FM set,
possibly something with multi bands such as a cheap and reliable World
Band radio which can be held in the hand.
I can assure you that carrying one of these would be well worth it
given the FM radios in phones - given my experience - just don’t
perform too well, yep for local stuff there okay but - if disaster
strikes - you may need something better than that.
Anyway its an interesting discussion and the whole idea of FM radios
in phones hasn’t been abandoned, take the Nokia 3310 and the other
Nokia Android phones which are around now, I believe they all have FM
radio facilities.
Further to this - if you believe it absolutely critical that your
iPhone have a FM radio - then a dock connector can be purchased to
carry out this task.
