Hello everybody Although the official release date of this device here in the United Kingdom is 19 October, tomorrow, I have just received my own device. I knew it was iminant because I got the despatch note from Google a couple of days ago.
Anyway, I received it about half an hour ago. The Google Home Mini is most certainly a miniture device. Although it has a standard USB Micro port for the power supply, like its big brother, it will only function with its own power supply. I think the voltages are lower than normal, about 2.5 volts at 400 MAH. Anyway, the device itself. Like its big brother, it is a fabric covered sleaker, and only has one control. The sliding toggle switch that turns on and off the microphone. It does, however support gestures. For instance, rolbing your finger around the edge of the speaker surface turns the volume up, (clockwise movement) and down, (anti-clockwise movement). The device is configured from the Home app on your phone or tablet, in precisely the same way that the bigger version is configured. It fits snugly in the palm of the hand, and although I'm still aweaiting the completion of a firmware download, and so haven't got it set up properly as yet, I'm really enthusiastic about the device. The Google Assistant audio is just as clean and clear as the big brother version, and I was struck by how rich and fulb it sounds. Even with this small device, I can clearly here a nice top and bottom end to the audio. So, off I go to set this up. Also, just by the by, stand by for a very indepth review done by me of the latest Sky Q TV system. I had a special experience with sky themselves, as you'll find out soon. OKAY, off I jolly well pop! ============================== My Compliments And Kindest Regards Gordon Smith 'Accessibility And Information Technology Support Specialist ------------------------------
